Wasserschloss in Wülmersen
This afternoon we drove to Wülmersen. To the Watercastle along the the Holzape Brook.
A grey day in February. The season is closed. The cafetaria, the Museum. Even the catlle is apparently heeding in the stables. But we love strolling around here, counting one other visitor. This grey brown empty old castle has been partially restaured. Its main High House dating from the 12th century had been in such a state of decay that only the rough structure has been conservated.
The sphere is serene here, the life of the old lords vanished. Everything is an attraction for the imagining mind. Where ever you go: a window hole, open gates. Its cold and draughty. The vegetable garden lays barren between its mossy stony walls. But it is a Water-castle and there is the broad floating Brook: the Holzape. It streams down from the valley beyond the old bridge. For ages its waters are singing and splashing down to the Diemel-river. Very, very clear and streaming fast.
No fish. Upstream you will find the lakes of a fish-farm. An attraction for the tourist season. Not for the vegan Blipwalkers, we happen to be. Our devotion to beauty, nature, creativity and awareness, calls for a different attitude towards the animal world. Breaking away from the historical realities of this Watercastle world, we try to contribute our small sacrifice to rebuild the bridge between nature and culture.
Maybe to a different vista towards peaceful coexistence on our planet. Maybe to see again the silvery fish swimming up and down the Holzape Brook one day.
