Today is 'Altweiber' or 'Weiberfastnacht' - the day during the karneval period where the women are in charge. In today's world this has become the cutting off of ties in offices (by the women) and the spraying of colour into hair at school (by the girls) and the beginning of a long weekend of fancy dress and drinking.
