What's happening in our woods?

Usual Thursday morning walk but with a lot more daylight and an accompanying smell of burning at the beginning and end!

A couple of weeks ago we almost had to crawl through the Rhododendrons overhanging the path here, heavy with snow. Today they were gone and alongside the path were the remnants of bonfires and wood stacks ready to burn.

They have been clearing Rhodis for a while on the estate to control their growth but the notice at the bottom here explains why they are now busy burning them. I hope it doesn't affect the other trees.

More light but still dull. Rain forecast for tomorrow!
