The Big Giant Head

We went and partook of the free breakfast before indulging in some culture.

Unfortunately the basilica in the church on the square (which is massive and beautifully decorated was pretty well hidden behind scaffolding while the experts examined it to make sure it is doing okay (it was ripped out by the Nazis and taken to Berlin where it was found in over 2000 pieces and in a very poor state due to rot and woodworm. It took 18 years to renovate it and replace it).
However, the building is still an amazing place

We had lunch from one of the stalls in the square which does the best 'steet food' I have ever tasted ......... things like pig knuckle, various sausages, black pudding (which is actually haggis), sauerkraut, potatoes, perogi and the list goes on.
That was were we met the 17th Centuary army guy who was trying to accertain if JEBs jugs were real or silicon (he was assured they were real).

The afternoon was spent under the square in the musuem that has been established in the excavations that was started in 2005 when they were redoing the surface and found evidence of high quality goldsmithing and all sorts of history - including the remains from what was obviously a graveyard, some of which had aparently been exectued for being vampires (quite normal in the 11th-13th centuaries apparently)

Coffee was then supped in one of my favourite cafes which also doubles as a gallery during Photomonth - which was one of the reasons for us going to Krakow.

In the evening we all met up in another of my favourite cafe/bars in the old jewish quarter where beer was consumed and laughter was heard - especially when we were trying to persuade one of the women on her first visit to Krakow that even the toilet was worth a look for its quirkieness.
