Wednesday: En Route to Belgrade
Yesterday, I had a conversation with my colleague along the following lines:
Colleague: So, you're off to Belgrade tomorrow? At least you're not going by train.
Me: (slight pause) I am going by train.
Colleague: Oh...........well....at least you're not going second class.
Me: (slight pause) I am going second class
Colleague: Oh.....I am sure the trains have improved.
So, today I travelled from Zagreb to Belgrade by train, a journey of about 7 hours which got progressively longer as we were delayed at each station. By the time I got to Belgrade I had to do the quickest hotel check in and change of clothes known to man as I had an official dinner to go to and I was dressed more for Balkan rail comfort than dinner. I am pleased to report that from drop off to departure I took only ten minutes.
I can't promise that I will see a lot of Belgrade while I am here but I will do my best.
