The Puzzle
I didn't expect this...
Last launched from Crackington Haven over a year ago. Didn't quite realise how much things had changed!
Off a bit after high tide from the shingle bank and everything looked as before. A pleasant few hours drifting along an unusually calm North Cornwall coast followed, as well as a few pollack for dinner. I arrived back at the beach to find that what was previously a long sandy beach was now a short sandy beach and a huge amount of rocks.
How to get a 24kg kayak, loaded down with kit, over it all with only a tiny trolley? After a few false starts....the stream turned into a boulder field...and a lot of scouting I managed to gradually figure out a circuitous route around rockpools and ridges. Finished off wobbling the kayak along a 30 degree slope of rock to avoid the huge boulders just short of the pebbles.
Time taken to go 100yds, probably over 30 minutes...
