Rubbing Strips

I had thought about doing a 'What is it Wednesday?' but concluded that you would all probably know.

I just had to get out for a quick walk at lunchtime so stopped in Brewood for a quick walk up the Shropshire Union Canal.  You can but wonder just how many thousands of horse drawn canal boats it took for the ropes to gouge out these strips.  They might not have even been the original ones when the bridge was built.
