Wet Wood

This was originally part of a tree, until it fell down and its branches broke in to pieces as they slowly rotted away.

I collected this as a piece of bog wood, totally saturated in water.

I was interested to see what would happen as it slowly dried out, so I brought it home and made this beautiful mount (out of slate and some nails! ) it weighed about 2 kilos when I started and now it feels almost weight less and has gone from a solid piece of very wet wood to a very delicate piece of dry wood, i suspect in the end it will just be  pile of dust.
