world in a grain of sand

the remains of the day

I had the best day I've had at work for ages -by not being at work! I spent the morning at a fabulous new development for older people which has been built using an old grammar school building, and this afternoon went to work with colleagues at a neighbouring council. They appeared to want to get their jobs done without any self promotional agendas, respected my contribution while making their own. I had forgotten work could be like this. With the notable exception of Ithaca of course!
As for the title, it refers to this beautiful sunset, but also to the pleasure of having sun and light after the working day had ended. A swim in the outdoor pool was a pleasure despite all the other people who thought it would be a good idea, and despite the regulars tutting at all the softies brought out by the sun. Now M and I have strolled up the road to check on the wildflower meadow (needs a few days yet), and enjoyed this lovely end to the day
