Huhu Beetle ( Prionoplus reticularis)

My sister saved some insects for my blip box. Amongst them was this huhu beetle a member of the longhorn beetle family and NZ's largest of this family. Traditionally Maori call the larval stage huhu but nowadays the whole life cycle is called huhu. This stage where it has developed wings and antennae is known by Maori as tunga rere.
Commonly known as haircutter beetle it only bites if mishandled as it flies around.
Wasn't she brave to catch it and save it or perhaps it was already dead when she found it.
