Olympic Tower, Olympiapark, Munich

We walked to the Olympiapark today. Scene of the 1972 games. Still remembered for the shooting and kidnap of Israeli athletes. All told eleven Israelis, five Palestinians and one German policemen died.

It is now a stunning park. The tower, blipped here, is 290m tall with a revolving restaurant at the top. We're going to go up on a clearer day.

The park was also full of people competing, supporting and watching the German Special Olympics. We saw some cycling and swimming. It is great that it is all still being used and that competitors in the special Olympics get world class facilities.

Munich is in line for a future winter games. If they pull it off it will the the first city to host a summer and winter Olympics.
