Mono Monday 54 China

For today's theme I have chosen  a sweet little china cup and saucer, a set of 2 given to me by a dear friend some years ago. They are made of china of course and I would like to think that the characters  on the base of the cups are  Chinese but a quick search of the internet makes me think that they are most likely Japanese. If anyone actually knows for sure, please do let me know!
