Well trodden staircase.

These are the stone steps up to College Chapel. An interesting combination this afternoon of light and shade. 

Up until four years ago, they were worn central tread by countless thousand of student - and teacher - footsteps making their way to Chapel and back , a route followed for over one hundred and fifty years. Now, newly replaced, some of the history is gone.....but Health & Safety are happy!
