Temple of the Winds

Today we went to Doddington Hall for a walk round the grounds, on the public footpaths. I get the feeling that these toffs open up public footpaths because legally they have to, but they make it clear they don't want us oiks on their land by having electric fences and huge scary cattle everywhere!

We went because we wanted to get shots of the Pyramid Folly created by Anthony Jarvis, the former owner of Doddington Hall. It was quite a trek through muddy swamps to get near it, and I was too scared to go too near it because of the cattle. They were penned up, but I thought they could be released into the field at any time. Apparently this breed are very placid, but they still freak me out. I was panicking just being within earshot of their loud mooing! I took one very fast shot of the Pyramid, which needless to say did not come out very well at all.

I'd gone hoping to see the Temple of the Wind, and was happy that it was visible from the path we took. I'd thought it was actually old, but no, it was designed and created by the same person as the Pyramid, in memory of his parents who had the hall before him, and has been there since only the 1980's. I still took shots of it, and here is one of them!

Anthony Jarvis' eldest daughter Claire and her husband James Jarvis own the hall now - Daddy lives in one of the cottages in the grounds. It's been in their family for four centuries!
