On the tomato plant

Good run this morning to the "other side". Down Dawson Road to the edge of the Mahurangi River. There I spotted a group of poaka (Pied Stilts) on a slightly elevated piece of mudflat in the outlet of a creek as it joined the river. Got a very nice photo of two poaka, with a reflection. Pleased with that.

Then agenda papers to be read. Interrupted to take S to visit with cousin and his wife and while there I saw some Californian quail. A reasonable enough photo to give me Nø 38 bird for this year. Not quite good enough to displace the poaka.

Back to the beach house to read and read and read and be distracted by birds outside the windows. This juvenile song thrush hopped about, eventually pausing long enough for me to get a photo through the kitchen window. This is good enough to replace the poaka.
