Stirling buildings (1)- Church of the Holy Rude
It is sometimes easy to be blase and ignore the buildings of one's home town or city. When we mention Stirling the Castle is the building which usually comes to mind. There are however many buildings of historical and architectural interest in the city and I intend blipping these on an occasional basis .
The first of the "series" is the Church of the Holy Rude where in 1567 Mary,Queen of Scots was crowned and where John Knox is known to have preached. There has been a church on this site for centuries.
This picture was taken from among the gravestones of the Top of the Town cemeteries which are also full of fascinating stones and monuments--perhaps the subject for later blips
