Moat Turtle
Proof that there is more than microbial life in the La Trobe moat. KinkyCapcakes and I were walking past the Simpson Lawn when we saw two girls focusing on what looked like a small rock on the bank of the moat and when we looked closer we saw it was a turtle. I didn't get a very good look, as it was curled up under some leaves, but it looked quite similar to my brother's turtle, Pablo so I believe it's an Eastern Longneck (Chelodina longicollis), a native to the south-east of Australia.
It was probably out in the open like this due to the emptying of that section of the moat. For what reason, I don't know, but an ancient sunken swivel chair and a packing crate were revealed by the receding water.
