A Winter Adventure
A hint of sunlight and we headed out for the smaller bird lakes, now all frozen and snowed over, of course, and not a bird in sight. It was a beautiful day, and the first bit, on a bank across the lake, was even ploughed. Going into the forest, the path was fairly well worn and I could run ahead and fall behind as usual, happily.
At the far end of the lake, people seemed to have turned around, because only one pair of footprints continued on. No paw prints. Hm. We decided to give it go and walked through the snow to briefly join the 10k track over to the spot where the tiny path back, through some rough terrain where I have been carried in the best of conditions, forks right.
No one had walked there since the snow came. Mum hesitated, but I set off, kind of remembering that this was the way to go, even though we haven't done it in a long time. It was very demanding, jumping through snow as high as me. But I am tough and kept going no matter what. Mum was exhausted, half regretting being adventurous and wishing she had worn her overalls, too. Together, we made it! I am now snoozing on the sofa, dreaming of our great adventure.
