Ring-necked Duck
Friday mornings I spend a The Wildlife Center of Virginia, helping the Treatment Team. This is a male Ring-necked Duck that was sent to the Center because he cannot be released in the wild due to some serious eye issues - basically he's blind, it seems. Prior to being possibly placed in some kind of educational setting, he was being evaluated to see if he could find food and take care of himself to an adequate degree in a small space, but it appears he cannot. The jury is still out, but the odds are not in his favor at the moment - poor thing. He was having a swim in a tub when I took this photo.
