Pioneer Legacy

I live in part of the United States that wasn't settled by europeans until the mid 1800's.  So these pioneers had the opportunity to build their cities from scratch.

I had lived in Boston for a while and recognized that many of the roads were just paved over cow paths without any real organization.

Well.  As you can see there are a lot of straight lines in this city layout.  It definitely makes navigation easy.

Another pioneer legacy is the width of the roads.  When they were designed, the plan was to make them wide enough that a horse drawn wagon could do a 180 degree turn around.  So there is ample room on the majority of roads through this city for today's traffic.

Pioneer legacy helps out on the morning commute.  :-)
