Winter Goldfinch
The sunflower seed feeder is busy this morning with the cold (slightly above zero F temperature) and every backyard bird appearing from the forest for a snack.
This mature Am. Goldfinch cock stands on top of the feeder while a lot of last year's fledglings fight over spaces below and out of the frame.
He keeps a regal posture or perhaps it is a guard. His colour is from the winter wardrobe but less drab than that of the youngsters and hens who are greener. He gets a bit of sun in between the light snow showers of today.
{Snapped through the bedroom window or questionable cleanliness on the outside.}
