Head-on Heron

It was raining when we got up, and it was supposed to rain all day. I went out to the village of Cortez, and was taking pictures of the cottages out my van window.

But, then the rain stopped. The sun didn't appear, but the rain stopped. So, I got a few birds.

I love it when the blue herons and the great egrets stare right at you with both eyes. Such a strange head on both of them. Plus, on this shot, I got the added bonus of the up-turned hair.
