Firstly, I must caveat that we are well, safe, and fine!
This was not the photo I wanted to blip today. I woke up a 3am this morning to close our bedroom window in a draft, and was fronted with this site. A wild fire had taken hold of the North bank of the valley. As I type, this fire is still going and has now taken hold of over 400 hectares of forestry land. The fire would have to get over a large river to get to us, and we are very safe at the moment, and the rural fire authority have managed to save all the houses involved to date. However, the winds are so strong at the moment it is expected that the fire will be blown further into the hills and will burn for days, weeks, and even potentially a month.
