No Vote, No Voice

I attended a meeting today in Westminster where representatives of several disability rights groups met to discuss how to get more disabled people actively engaged in the electoral process.  In autumn 2014 'Operation Disabled Vote' was launched and this was a follow-up meeting from that.

MPs from Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Green were invited but only the Labour and LibDem MPs attended which was a little disappointing.  However, it was an interesting and inspiring discussion nevertheless,

I accompanied Maria, a disability rights activist from Norfolk, who was one of the speakers and who we see here.

Tomorrow up at UEA, as part of Voter Registration Week, the Union of UEA students have organised a 'Goats for Votes' event to encourage students to register.  It is promised that live goats will be present.  Watch this space (you couldn't make it up, could you?)
