on the Settle-Carlisle railway.

We took the scenic route home via the Ribblehead Viaduct. On Saturday a steam train, the Duchess of Sutherland, was on this line but I wasn't.  This Northern Rail diesel is a poor substitute but does look good with Ingleborough in the background.

There was no consultation of timetables for this photo ....... we were walking back along the footpath when we heard a train approaching the viaduct. Knowing that they go slowly over it and seeing a stile over a fence ahead I ran (it's good to know I still can), climbed the stile and got several shots as the train approached.
