Thermostatically challenged?

The house was freezing the evening as something is stopping the central heating from coming on. My guess is that the thermostat is to blame because everything else seems to be working as expected.
Our trusty heating engineer is booked to pop in to have a look tomorrow morning.

Update: I was wrong. It was the 3 way valve
