Big birds

I had to go to a meeting in London's Chancery Lane this morning.  It's not one of my usual stomping grounds.

Walking up the road, I spotted this plaster frieze decorating a doorway.  I'm not sure it these are cranes, herons or storks.  Can anyone help?
