Genius loci ...

.... alive and well and undisturbed in a remote spot in West Cork. This little well may have been here for hundreds of years even thousands, the cold clear water magically emerging from the hillside.  Should you spot the eel who lurks within your happiness will be mighty. Christianised now, the BVM gets credit and adoration here, but  the rules are strict - as you do the rounds, 15 decades of the rosary must be recited and each time you pass a small pebble must be dropped into the well. A sip of water from the well is also necessary, the small mug thoughtfully left. The little gifts left on the hillside speak of a much older religion, a much older spirit of the place. Many thanks to JoanneInOz who is now hosting MM.

Cold, grey, still - Bantry Bay was looking pretty amazing today.
