Big Fish
Showing the kind of imagination and poetic imagery for which Ireland is famous, this statue of a big fish is called The Big Fish. Ah, ok then. I thought it might be a tractor. Lucky we cleared that one up.
It's actually quite a nice piece of art. It's 10 metres long and covered in a ceramic mosaic made up of imagery from the history of Belfast. It works really well up close, and each time you visit you find a new detail you hadn't noticed before.
In the background are Samson and Goliath, the huge yellow cranes from Belfast's Harland and Wolff shipyard, where Titanic was built. As they say around these parts: "It was fine when it left here."
