A head for heights

A sunny, if chilly day. Brrrr!  After we had been out to lunch we stopped in the village of West Camel to have another look at the church. I wanted to take some photos of the glass screen and door they have installed to make a separate room off the main space.  (We could do with something similar in our church - to keep out the draught!)
I noticed several of these figures positioned on the ceiling at intervals, brightly painted and looking downwards onto the main aisle and pews.
There will be some history to them, but I couldn't find any information in the church. They must have been there for a long time, looking down on the changing congregations over the years.
