Rothko - Den Haag 2015
"Yes, but is it Art?"
Today was thoroughly enjoyable and incredibly busy and I took about 100 photographs and have agonised over which one to use for my journal.
Two hours this morning on the Advisory Panel, proof reading for correct punctuation of lengthy resolutions written in united-nations-speak-with-sub-sub-clauses left me feeling dizzy. After lunch Ron and I went to the nearby Gemeente Museum - this year I particularly wanted to see the temporary Rothko exhibition. The paintings were particularly difficult to photograph, but people's reactions were interesting to capture and I took several of these rather than of the paintings. Also, there is a fabulous exhibition on C19th womens clothing - I don't think I have ever seen such a large collection of day and evening wear from about 1780 through to around 1910. Fascinating and the whole exhibition is beautifully curated. I took a lots of photos of the scenarios created that best displayed what the women of fashion were wearing from pre-Napoleon to post-Victoria.
Then it was back to the conference and visiting various committees and watching the debates and voting procedures. Eight hours of debate for the delegates - their longest day. Mine too.
