Evening rays
When I was small, I went to Sunday School. It took place in Hyndland Parish Church hall at 2pm on a Sunday, and I always suspected my parents encouraged us to go so that they had an hour's peace to read the Sunday paper. The only thing I remember from these days (before I was 10; we moved house then) was that we tended to hit each other over the head with rolled up magazines that were distributed, probably monthly. The older children were given one called Greatheart, the tinies got Morning Rays.
And the point of this? The shape of the rays of the declining sun over Bute this afternoon reminded me forcibly of the cover of said Morning Rays.
As I say: Evening Rays.
