Flock of Kites

Taken at Lerrocks Farm, also called Argaty Red Kites.

Today, they weren't hungry for their rabbit - one rabbit for around 40 kites - but they didn't want the buzzard to get it either. Or the corvids. Or the heron.
They did come down to it eventually, but never finished it. Instead, they danced overhead in the winter sunlight, in one of the most spectacular aerial displays I've seen for a long time.
After two and a half hours, I had to leave them to it because I was so cold I couldn't hold the camera steady.

I've tried adding a link to the Ipernity album where some more of the day's kite photos are, but this wonderful exciting new Blipfoto won't link it. So that's a non-starter, then.
