Movement in Mudeford

Had the day off today and decided to take a trip to the coast to photograph gulls in flight with a slow shutter speed to meet this months topic "Movement";  All work has to be done in camera and not in Photoshop.

I started of photographing birds against the sand or sea and over exposing to get a nice subtle shot that just picked out the details and made the rest glow. I then turn to shoot them agains to fir trees to give a dark background.  I then added some second curtain flash to bring out the bird.

This is the final result with a slight adjustment in Lightroom to add a little softness to the light that was a little harsh from the flash, the rest is all creative use of the camera and settings.

Good exercise, I recommend giving it a go.
