Flowering bravely
A day of mixed weather here today - bright sunshine followed by brief showers. Rhododendron 'Nobleanum', an old hybrid of Rh arboreum and Rh caucasicum, was first created by Anthony Waterer around 1832 at the Knap Hill Nursery in Woking, Surrey, the town of my birth. There have been subsequent crosses, but this rather muddy pink is probably the most often seen, flowering on and off right through the winter.
Here it's a foreground to the mixed forestry on the other side of the A816.
