A time for everything

U.C. (University of Cincinnati

Thursday
This morning I had another class, 'For the love of Music', this one down at the University of Cincinnati main campus. They have done a tremendous amount of construction and re-landscaping down at UC over the last 5 or 6 years. In fact when Philip started there just over four years ago, the in-joke was that UC stood for 'Under Construction'! The grey building to the left of this shot is the Campus Recreation Center, which besides all the usual sports facilities, contains apartment-style residence for student athletes, a dining facility and convenient store.

The leader of the class is Dick Waller, who was principal clarinettist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for over thirty years. This morning, he was talking about and playing excerpts from Mahler Symphony No 2, the "Resurrection", which the Symphony is playing this weekend. I love Mahler, especially this one, and I hadn't realised that was on this weekend, so as soon as I got home, I checked with Roger that we hadn't got anything on tomorrow night, and called up the box-office to get tickets!
