Snow.

Today's cycle run wasn't cancelled but the weather was awful, it was cold, wet and windy.  The previous two weeks they were cancelled because people were scared it would be icy, it wasn't, and some of us went out anyway. The snow started as soon as we did and, although it came and went, the camera stayed firmly in my pocket. With a strong headwind, we took short cuts to the lunch stop which meant we had only done just over 12 miles by the time we arrived an hour early, so early that my sandwhiches hadn't had time to defrost - an occurence that had not been previously encountered.

We delayed leaving lunch as it was snowing quite heavilly so that by the time we did eventually move off - it was a veritable blizzard. There was a break in the weather when I took a few pictures but, as they're repeatable  I've chosen this effort, taken through the window while we were drinking coffee at the sausage emporium.

On a day when I cycled less that 45 miles, Steve Abraham covered 178 from Milton Keynes to Blandford Forum. He needs to average 205 per day to equal Tommy Godwin's record mileage of 75,065 in a year, the year in question being 1939; he's at present down on an evenly paced schedule by 545 but he's so far covered 5,213 compared with Tommy's 4,339 in the first 28 days. Things should pick up when the weather improves.
