The Mansion
Over to Worcester via Bletchley Park. The blip is The Mansion at Bletchley Park where the German Enigma code was cracked in WWII. Alan Turin designed the Bombe (a mechanical machine) which was a major tool that helped to crack the daily Enigma code. A working replica of the Bombe at Bletchley Park is demonstrated to visitors. It is estimated that each Bombe cost approx. £500k and approx. 211 were assembled between 1939 and 1945. We spent 4 hours looking around but only saw half of the exhibits. The bonus is that the ticket you buy on entry allows you to visit Bletchley Park as many times as you like in the next 12 months – so we will be back to see it all.
