Hawfinch, finally, in the Snow
I have seen this bird rapidly flying away from the garden a couple of times before. This morning he was picking up the seeds from under the feeders. He looked up, saw the camera or maybe heard it, and shot off! I was so excited that I had to whip out the SD card immediately to upload him. Apparently, that huge beak can break open cherry stones which need a pressure of approximately 40 kilograms to break! Not bad for a bird the size of a starling.
