Winter afternoon

It has been a wild and cold day. Wind and hail and rain. And the most amazing skies - blue and crisp, like a freshly washed sheet snapped above our heads, then grey and churning pressing down. A day for the heating on high, cups of tea and climbing under the covers as soon as it's dark. A proper winter day. And yet as each day gets a little longer, I want to savour these days. For they are special in their own way too.
