A new lease of life?

This is the old shop sign of Jardine and Co. in Queensbury Street, Dumfries. It was an iconic Dumfries shop, selling ironmongery and hardware until closing in 2001. I remember going in there and seeing the shopkeeper in his overalls behind a long wooden counter, behind him were shelves and drawers filled with all manner of interesting stuff. There was even one drawer labelled "Domes of Silence".. whatever they might be.
Plans are afoot to turn the building into a tearoom. It will be good if one less town centre shop is standing empty.
