IMPACT Nepal Safer Motherhood & Child Health

Meet Laxmi Devi Yadav (in blue), one of IMPACT Nepal's Community Health Volunteers in Rautahat District.

She has been trained by IMPACT to support women in her community to understand the importance of sound nutrition during pregnancy; ante and post natal care; and child immunisation.  She is pictured with Afsana, who thanks to Laxmi's encouragment, is the first woman in her family to have regular health check-ups during pregnancy and give birth at a health centre.  Initially her mother-in-law was apprehenisve about the advice but seeing her grandchild thrive,  IMPACT Nepal told us, 'She is  now very enthusiastic about sharing the family's sotry with her neighbours and inspiring everyone to follow the principles of safe motherhood and child health'
