Kingsley Statue and Helping Hand

The Kingsley statue on Bideford Quay commemorates the time Kingsley spent in the town; it was here he wrote Westward Ho!
The conker tree was one saved when the area was cleared of trees and bushes to make the car park.  When it appeared that it might fall down the Helping Hand was made to keep it upright! It has become quite a tourist attraction  now. 
A very grey day today - but lovely lunch with friends so all is well!
