Red or white?

I recently learnt that white wine is better than red with goat's cheese. We had a delicious "Couronne Lochoise" this evening. Very nice with the local Sauvignon (we've been drinking far too much wine since we moved to Tours, but it really is part of the local culture), although I do suspect that a red would better have suited the chutney...
