Stone Balls

My day at work has involved woodworm (both Common Furniture Beetle and Death Watch Beetle), overhanging trees, spilt ink, faulty lights, overhead wires, sticking doors, a faulty window, boiler servicing, electric meters and a heating issue....and that was all before lunch.

These stone ball-shaped finials adorn the gateposts to the main entrance of Oakwell Hall at Birstall. I managed to capture them as the sun was rising this morning.

Last week film crews were at the hall for the programme "Most Haunted" and the hall is also due to feature in a forthcoming BBC drama series Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
