The secret life in a tree trunk

On my lunchtime stroll I came across a fallen tree trunk which someone clearly has been having some fun carving a creature from it.  This is the face, and there are also hands too.

What an interesting day.  Syriza win the election in Greece and Demis - King of Kaftans - Roussos dies in Athens.  He had been ill for a while so I have to wonder whether he was hanging on to hear the outcome of the election.
