Miners...wip

Coming along slowly... decided to try with the text from the poem along the bottom. Used a technique called 'lifting out' which involves taking off the existing watercolour with a clean brush and clean water. It's subtle but I think it might be ebough. Hated adding the police along the cliff but it is meant to be a comment and not just a pretty picture. It's for edan's approaching exhibition to commemorate the end of the Miners' Strike in March1985.
It's almost there now - need to 'solidify' the coppers some more and add some more lepidodendron fossils (that's the patterned 'seam' idea - they're the fossilised trees that the coal is made of).
