Opportunist
Not a very exciting bird but the wood pigeon is nothing if not an opportunist. He is scavenging under the feeders in the front garden where the other birds discard lots of seed.( I would say smaller birds but we regularly see a crow at one of the feeders who is capable of emptying it by itself in a day!)
I didn't actually see a pigeon during my one hour birdwatch but they are often around.
You can see a crop of 'grass' where he is feeding that will need weeding out when the spring comes. That is also a result of the discarded seed!
