Something Other Than Volleyball
Talk about contrasts from one day to the next - after a week on the beach in Ixtapa shooting thousands of photographs of mostly young, almost exclusively white, and all tall volleyball players we traveled inland to one of our favorite little towns, Patzcuaro. All of a sudden the people surrounding us were much older, dark skinned, and very short. That drastic change in subject matter inspired me to photograph lots of faces as we walked around Quiroga and Tzintzuntzan exploring old haunts from our previous inland trips. This vendor of incense bark had an interesting face and when she looked up at her two customers I knew I had my shot for the day.
