Roman amphitheatre

This has thankfully not (yet) been over restored. With the aid of some restoration and a lot of scaffold seating this Roman amphitheatre is still in use. Quite amazing to sit on one of the old stone seats and realise that people were using them 2000 years ago. The entryways into the centre of the stadium are no different to those in a modern football (read the Emirates) stadium - the same sense of anticipation stirred as I walked up the steps and into the light. No footie but it didn't disappoint.
